Hi, I've had Vincent now for 2 months in his new tank and I'm wondering if he is bored? He has a treasure chest to hide in, which I'm thinking of changing because its quite big, and coloured stones, which he loves to nudge about. There's also plants in there (silk and plastic). What else could I introduce to his tank for him to safely explore? And would giving him the option to climb out the water be a good idea? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Im confused, is he an axolotl? because they dont come out onto land, they spend their whole lives in water.

Floating plants and anchored ones are good and gives him the option to hide near the surface or on the bottom, pvc piping can be used to make hiding holes and large stones can be used for decoration and axies like to climb on and around them.

Wood is another option, this is also decorative and can be used to climb on/under. you say you have stones he nudges around, are these bigger than his head? else this can be swallowed and cause impaction :(

axoltols lack the higher brain functions that are needed to feel "bored". a happy axoltol will do just about nothing and that's a good sign.

decorate your tank to your liking. do you need it to be simple, functional and easy to clean? or would you like a elaborate biotype tank? the possibilities are endless.
