my mexican palm salamander is not eating.i ve had it for three years and it has always been a great eater .i feed it termites, ants, fruit flies and crickets three times a day but today or yesterday he didnt want to eat he just stayed in his bromeliad all day when he is usually climbing around.what should i do?

i wouldnt worry about it. plethodontids can go a few day without food. i usually feel my plethodontids once a week and they do fine. it also triggers them to hunt instead of being a lazy blob under their log. hopefully it will eat within a few days eh.

I used to feed the mexicana I worked with 2-3 times a week. Three times a day is a little excessive.
If it is stressed by something then it could easily go off feed.

they are notorious for not surviving-even with all my experience i will not try to keep them, ZOO's have trouble keeping them alive, Ed can tell you more about them-i think the whole genus are beautiful and extremely interesting but i have never even tried to keep one-its a personal opinion(but echoed by many) that these are not worth buying because their survival rate in captivity is so extremely low, which in turn makes their chance of captive breeding very very low and thus its not worth supporting the pet trade that supplies them until some major breakthrough in their care and keeping happens. admittedly this will have no chance of happening if no one keeps them-but i leave this up to people with more resources and more than my near decade of experience to attempt. ..its my opinion you are just asking for more heartache to get another.
