Hi
I was wanting to buy a planted peice of wood or an arched peice as a tunnel/hide for my axy's. i know i used mopani wood years ago in my tropical tank and it took ages for the tanin? to settle and the water to clear. my question is.... is bogwood the same? is there a danger in using either with my axy's?

any help will be greatly appreciated.
:p

I boiled both my bogwood and mopani several times, changing the water each time. It removed a lot of brown and I had no problem with it darkening the water too much after I put it in the tanks. Obviously you wont want to boil it if it's planted ..lol, but you could still soak it well before putting it in the tank. There's always going to be some tannin present, but that's a good thing :)
