Black sand?

Hi all,
I'm raising a very small axi right now and am working on getting his big 3 ft tank ready for when he's big enough, and I'd really love to have black sand as my substrate. Does anyone have suggestions as to the best and most cost-effective place to buy the sand? I was looking online, and my local stores are of course more expensive. But does the shipping sort of even out the prices between the online shops and local ones? Ideas?

Black sand is usually pretty pricey....and although it may be cheaper to buy online, the shipping is usually pretty expensive if you are buying large bags.

Thank you! I kind of figured that any large amounts of sand would make it better to just buy it locally instead of paying for shipping! My tank is 3 ft by 1.5 ft, and approx. 40 gallons, so I need quite a bit of sand to cover the bottom. I'm a wicked nerd and am setting my tank up to look like the planet Pandora from Avatar, and I thought black sand would look better and nicer than playsand... Ooh, the things we do...
