So I recently moved house and I noticed my tank hasn't been able to chill down to the usual 17degrees and the other day I came home to my chiller making a horrid noise, my tank water sitting at 30degrees and the thermostat completely wrong!!! I opened it up and something has exploded in it.
I don't know how long Sunny had been in 30degrees for but hes now in the fridge happily the poor bugger. This means I have to buy another $300 chiller!!

rageeeee

thats terrible, what kind of chiller was it?

I gave one of the babies i raised to a friend and 30 Degrees killed it, so Sunny is very lucky.

It's worth noting that like fridges, you should let your chiller sit for a day or so before you turn it on so it can "settle". I have no idea why.

perhaps you can claim warranty on it?

I got it for half the price of normal ones but when it comes to warranty, they don't do it so it's off to buy another one :(

Hi blaze
I havent talke to you in ages
Have a look on guppy, they have replacement parts and im sure I saw they have the whole thermo sets for around $40.....
Glad to see you and sunny are still together:D

I am glad that your axie sunny survived the high temperature, there is a fluid that needs to settle the same as in fridges as mentioned above. I am glad that you posted as I am eagerly awaiting delivery of a hailea chiller, And in my eagerness may not of let the machine sit for 24 hours before turning it on, the coolant needs to settle.,

The chiller would of sat on the truck for more than 24hours so why would it need to settle? The whole thing blew up so it will never work again.

I got the hailea 150 today, it's dead quiet compared to the 130 I had! it's wonderful.

Hey Blaze, I'm glad to hear your new purchase is working out well.
I wanted to just point out that though your chiller was sitting in a truck for 24 hours, it would have probably been moved again when you positioned it back near your tank - right? This is possibly what caused it to go boom :(
A word of warning to all: let your fridges/chillers sit if you move them! ;)
