This is my first time to work with axolotls. I hatched some eggs out last week. I have them in a 10 gallon tank and they are eating baby brine. I wanted to move them over to plastic tubs for easier cleaning. What would be the best way to clean the new tubs before putting them in?Dishwasher?

Also how delicate are they? Can they be moved with a net daily if water temp is the same?

I looked around and did not find the answers to these questions. If I missed them please forgive me

thanks

I have used containers that have been through the dishwasher, but a lot of people say not to do this because the detergents could leave traces behind. I guess it's up to you if you want to worry about this or not. If the containers are new, you could just give them a good rinse with plain water. Or wipe them down with vinegar and then rinse thoroughly.

When moving very small larvae between tubs, I either use the turkey baster, or I pour most of the water off, then pour the larvae from one tub to the next.

I sterilize any new containers with boiled water BUT if they're plastic and flimsy they will melt and I don't recommend it! I always keep the containers my crickets, mealworms etc come in which are pretty flimsy and I just use hot water and give them a good rinse out then air dry. If I need them as soon as possible I rinse with hot water, then cold water to cool them (obviously!) and dry with a paper towel.
