I have about 100 Lotls that I'm going to be selling here pretty soon, they were born on the last week of January, hatched about the second week of February.
They are all still very little, maybe about an inch, and I am going to be selling them to friends and coworkers who don't have any experience with Axolotls. (some of them have owned salamanders, frogs, snakes and lizards)

Although I have been giving them information up the wazoo, and making sure they do a TON of research (I also suggested they sign up for this AMAZING website) I don't want to sell them too early. I would also like to be able to really see the coloring a little bit better before I sell them- because I of course am selfishly saving some for myself.

So, in weeks, size, leg growth etc. when should I be selling them? I was saying around the middle of March, but since they haven't grown that much I am not sure if that would be the safest.

Personally I would wait until they had all four legs and were feeding well on food such as frozen bloodworms or daphnia to make it easier for potential new owners. In terms of age...about 8 to 9 weeks

Well, it is easiest to care for an axolotl that can eat pellets or frozen food, since then the new owner doesn't have to worry about keeping live food alive.

I don't know when the best size to sell is, but 3 inches seems to be a very manageable size. However, when you have many, many babies, you probably want to find them homes sooner. Perhaps when they start getting their back legs, assuming they are willing to eat blood worms or pellets?

Around how many weeks old should their front legs start coming in? They are about 3 weeks old now and I haven't noticed any legs coming in yet. Last week their hearts and guts were finally coming visible.

They are still eating BBS right now, when is the ideal/best way to wean them off of live food onto frozen? And is it an easy process?

Thanks guys!

My little guys got front legs at 3to4 weeks. Now coming up 8 weeks and 2 out of 9 have visible back legs.I introduced chopped frozen blood worm( thawed then cut finer with scissors) alongside bbs at 3 to 4 weeks.
As soon as I saw red tummies instead of orange from bbs I knew they were eating the blood worms so phased out bbs......a relief in itself!!!

Just a foot note(!).......it's quite hard to see front legs without a magnifying glass or enlarged photo as they emerge just below the gills!
