It is interesting to see so many belly patterns in P. caudopunctatus. I especially like the pattern on the right top corner.

Wow, I had one that had the same pattern as the one in the top right corner. I knew that some had reddish bellies too, but I had no idea of this. Kind of reminds of the huge register of different Cynops pyrrhogaster bellies.

Nate,

The top and bottom one from the first stroke is from a same location, so I believe you can say they are the same. The middle one from the first stroke and the top one from the second stroke is from other location.

The one that has occured most overhere in petshops had the same colorpattern as the middle row, the bottom one.

I agree that the right corner one is something very odd , never seen any like this... but even some of the other colorations are striking!!

There are also several different forms of dorsal colouration - a green form and a brown-putty coloured form, and several intermediaries. Perhaps its to do with regional distribution, like C.pyrrhogasater.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
