Hello everybody
i recently bought a couple of fire belly newts from a pet shop ...of course i keep them in a sapαrate not only place but house for their quarantine.
after 10 days i noticed that one of the newts show redish wounds on its back !!!
i am almost sure that we have problem of Bsal.

i also have lots of
amphibians more than 2 years now and i really care about them.......(for this reason this quarantine in any newcomer)

PLEASE your advises .....

Petstore firebellies often develop the skin sores you mention, I don't know if its Bsal or not. The sores often break out along with bloat and spread rapidly, one theory is the highly stressed and starved newts immune systems are compromised allowing these kinds of problems to spread almost unchecked.
The sores also seem common on imported Paramesotriton as well, but hardly ever with Pachytriton for some reason. Personally, I'm terrified of bringing any more wild caught amphibians into my house. My original group of three adult C. pyrrhogaster were imported, but I think it was dumb luck that saved me from any problems.
I do know that they can sometimes be saved by antibiotics as in this link.

thank you very much for your answer chinadog
in greece pet shops are the one and only place to obtain an amphibian...
i ll gona use baytril for my sick newt but i dont know if i need to do something for my other newt for prevention ( these were all at the same tank)

I would split them up until the treatment is over and keep a close eye on the the other newt in case it develops the sores as well.
