Looking for info on "Neurergus strauchii barani" I think it is Either called BARREN SPOTTED NEWT OR YELLOW SPOTTED SALAMANDER. Petco has what they are calling a YELLOW SPOTTED SALAMANDER. But is looks like the Barren's newt.. Any info on either or both species would be nice..

I want to do research on the animal BEFORE I BUY!!!
thanks
Billie

You mean Baran Spotted newt (N.s. barani)...the yellow spotted salamander (Ambystoma maculatum) is a FAR different species despite some superficial color similarities when viewed from above. I think it's quite safe to assume Petco is not carrying Neurergus, they are to my knowledge non-existant in the US as far as private hobbyists go.

As far as care info for A. maculatum, I suggest reading the Marbled sal and Tiger sal care sheets at Caudate Central. The care is virtually identical to those species.

if they have a white stripe along thier spine(newt)no stripe and terrestrial(salamander)
