I just removed the sand out of my axies tank because it was very messy and hard to clean. It made water murky and stuff it was gross. The only thing is I have a Java fern. Right now it's just floating around in the tank or sitting up straight.

I also have a moss ball but I'm not concerned about him because he can't move all around. My axie plays soccer with it lol. My question is is it ok for the Java to stay like this. It was planted before but the roots never really grounded. They actually are hardly present. It's alive and it has grown a lot though so I'm confused about that part.

Any advice welcomed thanks in advance

If I recall correctly (check some aquatic plant sites to confirm) you can attach the java fern to whatever you want to hold it in place. That is, it doesn't need its weird roots in a substrate. So, pick something axolotl-safe to weight it down and attach it (fishing line or super glue).

I wouldn't use 'super glue' or even aquarium safe silicone for a plant, but fishing-line or aquarium safe weights are fine.

Your water should hopefully settle, but removing the sand seems to have released a lot of dirt/waste which may end up going through your filter.

Has the water cleared up?

Post some images, makes it easier to see the situation.

My water is clear. I did a water change and in the process decided to take the sand out

I thought you had already taken the sand out? like you said in your first post.

So your water has now cleared up after leaving it to settle?
