No matter what I do, I just can't make a bare bottom tank look interesting. Any tips on hardscaping/aquascaping a bare bottom tank without using dirt?

Maybe you could add more plants around those rocks, or you could get a moss ball for your little axolotl to play with in the middle. Putting some kind of pattern on the back wall could help too. Not sure how else to make a barebottom interesting. I decorate around the outside of my tank with little axolotl stuffed animals and toys which kinda helps. I'm no experienced aquascaper though, just some ideas.

Is the white base attached to the tank? I run a bare bottom tank but have previously put the fish tank paper wrap under the base as well on the side. It can look pretty.

I kinda like the modern, minimalist white. Shows off that beautiful copper axie! But if you want more naturalistic, I use a faux-stone aquarium background as substrate, glued in with silicone. I aquascape with little glass bowls of sand for planting, and java moss and moss balls can grow right on a bare substrate.

java moss ,christmas moss attached to the rocks to grow up them ,wood pieces from pet shop ,java moss balls ,plants in pots or a clay ring attached to them to weigh them down ,hope those ideas help

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
