Baffling the Filter

I've got a canister filter in my 100 gal axies tank and it's got quite a current. I've tried baffling it with sponges and adjusting flow until now, but it doesn't seem to be working. The output leads to a part that's basically two HOB filters with bio wheels, just smaller and without a cartridge or filter media. I can get pics later. Is there anything I can do to lessen the flow?

Get a spray bar for the outlet(s).
Position other stuff in the tank so the outlet discharges onto an ornament to break the flow.
Use shower puff under the outlet to break the flow.

Is your filter appropriate for the size of tank? Maybe a picture would help too.
