Here's some of the latest baby pics. Start saving your nickels and dimes, because some of these will be donated for auction to support the site come the fall.

My apaunus are doing well. They are starting major morphing activities and I've got a couple of dozen out of the water and another 60 or so lurking in the weeds.

The dobros are starting morph activities too. I've got a dozen or so that have morphed and another 50 or so that aren't far behind.

Last years baby karelinii from Jen's stock decided to go nuts. I've got a dozen or so out of water and another 100 or so larvae in various stages of development.

The marms were a bit off this year, but all in all, it's been a good season

How do you feed them? They are morphing at a very big size!

Great job Dave! It looks like just about all who want to will be able to enjoy some of these newts.

Thanks for all the wonderful pictures, looks like the animals are very happy and well cared for!

They are wonderfull!!! They seem to be growing well, do please tell me what you feed them and how, as mine have just hatched.

I start them out on daphnia. I usually get the Magna daphnia and my babies eat the daphnia babies until they're big enough to munch on adults, and then I switch them over to live blackworms. I think keeping my apartment at 68F and trying to keep the water quality up helps keep them from needing to morph smaller or younger

Daphnier, i have some live, i will look into their breeding, thanks.

Sterling efforts Dave. It's really great to see European newts being bred in good numbers across the pond. WC triturus (and former triturus) are always on offer in Europe which may make it less desirable to raise large numbers of CB newts. Hopefully one day we can return the favour by breeding good numbers of Ambystomids and Plethodontids...

Ever since Dave posted this thread in June, I've been meaning to take some photos of "this year's crop" here too. So here are my current "baby pictures". The species are M. alpestris apuanus, Neurergus strauchii strauchii, and C. ensicauda popei.

Good going Jenn! All three species look to be coming along nicely. Weird how all those strauchii are bunched up on top of the flowerpot. Also, is that popei semiaquatic already?

Glad the apaunus kicked in for you Jen. All the pics are great as usual

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
