Hey there, my Chinese fire belly newts just had babies about 3 weeks ago. They've been doing good so far and I have them happily eating baby brine shrimp. I left overnight and when I came back I noticed that about 4-5 (of the 25) have swallowed bubbles and are floating at the surface. Do I just wait until they pass or can I do something for them?

Air bubbles are usually from not eating enough. Are you sure they are getting enough to eat?

yep, they are, for the most part, all fat and happy. There are a few younger, smaller ones. The bubbles seem to be affecting the smaller-medium babies. Most of them have seemed to float back down to the bottom, but there are 2 more with bubbles still. I'll keep my eye on them, but i suspect they will probably sink by morning. I'll post an update in the morning

ok, I checked on them this morning and they have all returned to the bottom. What could have caused them to swallow bubbles? There is plenty of food in the tank, I have a hard time believing that they didn't have anything to eat.
