Hey guys,

I have only had my axies for just over 2 weeks and now I find out i'm going to be a daddy! (well you know what I mean :D)

I have had a quick look through this section but i'm still not quite sure what i'm going to need to do with my eggs.

I guess if I want to try and hatch them I will need to get them out of my main tank, but then what? What else do I need? what kinda food should I be looking for?

If possible could someone perhaps do a check list guide of what I will need and what kinda timescales I can expect things to happen?

Much appreciated,

Well Chuffed Axie Owner :proud:

Small tank - put the eggs into this to let them hatch, you should check out caudata culture for good hatching information.

Food - Baby brine shrimp, check out DIY Brine shrimp hatcherys and brine shrimp eggs.
- Also daphnia small ones, self cultivated or pet shop bought, try get smaller ones.

You may also need some smaller tubs to separate them into as they grow.

These are just a few things i know of :D

I'm going to get a tank tomorrow hopefully, does this tank need to have a filter or can I get away with just changing the water every week?

How long before the eggs will get eaten in the main tank as should I move them now? (and just put them in any type of container for the time being)

Should I still feed the mum or will she be fasting at the moment? (she ate yesterday before I had any eggs)

i don't use a tank for hatching or keeping baby axolotls i find it easier and cheaper to use tupperware containers.

Same here i use tupperware boxes as well i got mine from Tescos were quite cheap and hold aprox 4Ltrs or you can use plastic Take Away type containers you can normaly get them from pound shops.
Freshly hatched Brine ships are a good starter food.

That should read 'Brine Shrimps' ! lol

So the water doest have to be filtered?

How often do you change it?

For eggs, you don't have to change the water often, and no filtration is needed. But make sure to remove any eggs if you can tell they aren't developing or have become damaged.

I change the water daily once they have hatched with water left to stand over night to reach the same temp with your prefered water treatment added.A pipette is useful to remove uneaten food etc from the bottom of the container as well
