Hi I am I new axolotl owner and I think I have over fed my baby axolotl. I put a whole bag of blood worms in his tank as I thought he would keep coming back to it and eat it gradually over a day or so. I put them in a jar to avoid mess and poluttibgvthe water. I then left him to iit. However he took a huge mouth ful if about 40 and then spat some out but still swallowed too many at once. The next day noticed most of the worms were gone and he was looking slightly bloated. Now the blood worms are coming out whole and undigested . Is this normal , I am very worried and was just wondering if I could be reassured that he will be ok ? Thank you for your time x

Sounds normal to me, he would of got what he wanted from them which won't be much being a baby. When he gets bigger he will digest them better.

Yeah thats fine buddy.

A bag of bloodworm in my local shop is the equivalent of about 3-4 cubes so just use half a bag in future and make sure you rinse em as they are stored in saline.

Thanks for the advice. much appriciated :)
what is saline , is that dangerous for the axolotl ?

This is perfectly normal...when you are overfeeding. Feed him only what he will eat as you are watching. Even by leaving them in a jar, your water chemistry will go bad fast. Also, within 30 minutes the nutritional value of the bloodworms is lost, so no point in having any in there for any longer than that.

Thank you, great help . :)
