I have baby axies hatching right now. I am pretty okay on the whole feeding bit but my question is, how often should I do at least a partial water change with the babies?

Do at least two "complete" water changes a day. It depends more on the death rate of the bbs. Death means fowl water.

I used a different method very successfully. In a small tank (around 15litres) I hatched around 80 eggs. Once a day I lowered the water level to an inch, cleaned the bottom with a turkey baster, and fed BBS and microworms. After an hour I topped up the water to around 8 inches with dechlorinated at the same temperature. Lost only an occasional larva. At front leg stage I added white worm and chopped defrosted bloodworm to their diet for the larger ones.

I started by moving the babies to a clean fresh tub daily once all the uneaten BBS had stopped moving. It seemd easier to move babies to a clean tub rather than clean around them. Thats a 100% change daily all the while they are on BBS.

Now they are a month old and onto bloodworms and daphnia I change about 70-80% daily, with poop scoops every time I pass by.

Thanks everyone! I am absolutely over the moon on how many hatched. Of the 50 I was sent, I maybe lost two or three.:)
I bought a little five gallon tank to divide them up a bit, I didn't have much available to put them in before, so just used a plastic tub.

Little ones are doing wonderfully! :) I am glad there is this forum to come to for information! :)

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
