I have a happy healthy clutch of 80 little wiggles from an accidental breeding. I had a filter break and moved my female in with my males for one day, and, well, we know what happened next LOL

The mother is a GFP Copper Mel
My males are a GFP wild, HI golden, and Melanoid. No ideas of possible het on any of these.

Most of my hatchling are pretty easily identified, but I have a few that have left me scratching my head. Any guesses would be much appreciated!

What other morphs did you get in the clutch? and how old are they in these pictures

This will help

I would guess variants of leucistic - likely axanthic, regular and melanoid

Babies are about 15 days old here, give or take. They hatched over a period of 5 days. I have wilds, Mel wilds, golds, Mel golds, whites, and Mel whites with GFP scattered through all these. I'm seeing what I think are copper Mel, but this is my first clutch so I'm not 100% None of my hatchlings looked like standard coppers, though. At least not from comparing hundreds of pics.

What are you calling a Melanoid wild? black/grey with no eye ring?
What are you calling whites? White body black eyes with rings?

Coppers have distinct banding, copper mels have less banding.

Do you have any idea who dad is? or is it a mix of everyone? Do they live together?

Sorry, when I say wild Mel I mean wild color with no eye ring. My whites are solid white, some with eye rings, some without.

I'll give you the short version of the paternity. I had my female paired with a melanoid in a 40 breeder. I have 2 other males in another tank. I left town, my 4 year old threw tempera paint in my male tank. My husband panicked and threw everyone together while he cleaned up. I came home to eggs. I know there's been a mix up because I have non melanoid babies, which shouldn't have been possible. It's been a joy and headache at the same time LOL

Hopefully these clarify what I mean by white and wild mel.

I'd say its a Melanoid look black grey with no eye ring. No banding so not Axanthic or copper.

Your whites are then White Albino (w/eye rings) and Melanoid White Albino (w/o eye rings) you can also call the Leucistic Albino and Melanoid Leucistic Albino.

Please post the Golden and Mel golden so we can make sure they are all properly ID which then I can give you all of Moms hets as well.

I might share the 1 or 2 pictures with a guru to find out what he thinks it is.

So far you have for sure
Melanoid
Leucistic Albino
Melanoid Leucistic Albino

I really appreciate all your help! Some of these are pretty obvious to me, I guess I'm just really surprised at the Lucy babies popping up and wanted to make sure I wasn't seeing things! I'd love for you to share and get back with me :)

This is the golden and gold Mel. Most without the eye ring are showing more yellow now, but they are also behaving badly so I'm posting a slightly older pic.

Melanoid
Leucistic Albino
Melanoid Leucistic Albino
Golden Albino
Melanoid Golden Albino
Likely Leucistic and Melanoid Leucistic

Means you female is minimum GFP Melanoid Copper het albino & leucistic - genotype A/a, c/c, D/d, G/g, m/m, AX/?
Shes an excellent breeder with that mix - You can prove out almost any hets with your males

I'd buy a pentahet from a trusted breeder in the US and you could have a rainbow!!

Thanks so much for your help, this is exciting news! I had a feeling she was a special girl, and the plan was to prove out some hets in my melanoid male, but, I guess that will wait a season LOL

I do plan on investing in an exquisite male for her once all these babies are out of the house!

Could you show me an example of what you mean by "banding" on coppers? I have some assumed golds with darker striping, but it's so hard to find good examples for comparison.

Oh! Ok! Once again, I can't get ANYONE to be still. I do have a really early pic of one of the babes in question. You'll have to forgive the quality, it's taken me 2 weeks to develop a steady hand LOL the two in the top right. This is maybe 3-5 days old

Just look like albinos of some variety.

Axolotls have pigmentations from the egg that lightens for up to 9 weeks

Ok, makes sense. I was really hoping for a regular copper in there somewhere LOL maybe I'll be surprised over the next couple weeks.

One last pic and I swear I'm done. This one actually held still. And is hands down the most puzzling/interesting looking babe I got. I know the blue eyes are just white iridophores, but there's some super pale yellow stripes there that make me scratch my head a bit.
