Axy breeding woes!

Hello All, I have an axy breeding issue, my male (9 months old 9 inches long Leuc, black nails) has laid his sperm packs and as far as I know my female (13 months old 10 inches long heavy set body leuc, fully black nails) picked them up some time on sunday.
the female has been out of sight under her plant pot since then, and the male has been in there as well acting like he is guarding it.
my question is is it right they are acting like this, and when can I expect eggs?

hi russell, if you dont have eggs yet maybe your female isnt ready. i have heard that sometimes it can take a couple of goes before they are successful. all we can ever do is wait and see.

They don't guard their eggs or each other. If it has taken 4 days it's highly unlikely it was successful. Give them time. A watched axolotl never lays .

Pssst..... if my axolotl are startled by something new, my male wild type covers the juvenile with his body, then nudges it into their cave. Its happened too many times to be a coincedence!. Not that I go out of my way to do it but sometimes they are so relaxed it takes the tiniest of things to get him going, this morning he was covering the juvenile with his body in a corner of the cave because the dippy cat had decided to sleep on top of the mesh top. When he was chucked out ( the cat) Jefffers removed him self from on top and settled beside the other.
