I just set up my axoltol's new tank, he's a few months old and it was time for an upgrade. When I put him in his new habitat he started acting weird, he was twitching and twisting around, looking like the common idea of a seizure. He twisted around and flicked his gills a little, and he's surfacing for air more than normal. He also moved his throat in a way that looked like a frog. The only thing I did different is add some Reptisafe water conditioner since I didn't have any distilled water left. Directions said to add 1 teaspoon for every 5 gallons. I had about 3 gallons of tap water so I added about .6 teaspoons.
He settled down after a few minutes but I'm still worried.
Will he be okay? What should I do?

How is your axolotl doing? I wouldn't use that Reptisafe at all, I have never heard of it.

As for the distilled water, at cheap, safe way to always have axolotl water is what I do. I have 6 buckets, 5 gallon ones from Home Depot, I take them, fill them, put a plastic bag over them (not on real tight, just over them to prevent dust and other things from falling in) and wait 48 hours, the water dechlorinates and is safe for my axolotl. If you do go that route, you gotta soak the buckets. Like, the last 2 I bought, I went right home, put them in the bathtub, filled them let the water overflow on them to rinse them well and then I let the water sit for like 2 hours before dumping it all and filling them for real, then capping them with bags. Just make sure the bags are clean!

How is your little guy? I do not know why that happened, is he ok?

I am sorry, I am just now saying this, I know it's been a week since you posted it. Sorry no one else replied. Kinda seems like the forums are more silent.
