Axolotls and Snails?

I'm planning to get an axolotl in April, and I was wondering if it's safe to have snails with them? Malaysian trumpet snails specifically. I have them in my fish tanks, and I've been moving plants from the aquariums to the axie tank that's cycling, so I'm sure, inevitably, snails will be moved over.

I wouldn't mind if the axie ate them, but I wanted to ask if it'd be safe for the axie?

Snails and slugs carry a high risk of parasites and other things, make sure it is captive bred. I have heard mixed views on slugs and snails. I might not risk it.

Oh well, the snails were all captive bred in my own fish tanks, which are all very healthy!

Snails are heavily debated on this forum. If you search threads on snails you may find some points of view which may help decide. It has generally been advised not to keep snails with axolotls due to a risk of axolotls swallowing them and then either becoming impacted or the snail becoming lodged in the throat or mouth causing injury. However some members here have successfully kept snails for years and never had such issues. Personally, I feel that smaller snails with softer shells may not pose too much risk but larger harder shelled snails may be more likely to cause harm if swallowed. I tend to opt for not keeping snails as I am not interested in the cold water snails available to me and I tend to err on the side of caution and not take the chance. I would also wonder whether the shape of the particular snails she'll may cause more or less risk of swallowed.

Thank you! I think I'll try to avoid snails then, to be safe! I wasn't really planning to purposely put them in anyway, it was just more of a "there will most likely be snails transferred with the plants" issue, so I'll just keep a lookout for them, and remove them when I see them!
