Hello guys, I normally use API `aquarium salt in my axie tank, but because I have been using the instant ocean sea salt for hatching my brine shrimp I was wondering how well it would work in an axie tank. I tried looking everywhere for an ingredients list and could not find one so cannot confirm if it has any iodine in it. Does anyone have any clue if this would work, any success using it??
Thanks
Cecilia

Pardon me, maybe I'm missing something but why do you add salt to your axolotl tank:confused:? Do your axolotl/s have fungus?
Sam:eek:

sometimes an itsy bit of salt is added to the water to avoid nasties like bacteria and fungus, but most people don't bother and just keep the tank in god condition. axolotls do not live in salt water, so if you are adding salt to the aquarium for that reason you will have some very sick axolotls. If it is only a little bit to avoid nasties, try using a less corosive option like some tea or almond leaves in the tank.

marine salt is different from aquarium salt, don't use it. I personally wouldn't salt a tank all the time as a practice, but I guess it's a personal preference

I cant say i like my axolotls extra salty either , they are better plain.

^this

marine salt is some heavy duty stuff...it's good for brine shrimp because brine shrimp need that kind of salt water but for axolotls...don't use it.

And I wouldn't add salt to my axolotl tank unless I saw some kind of problem with them all.

I've read that people do this to help ward of infection. it's not just a axolotl thing, people do it for other types of aquaria too.

I don't see the point, if you maintain your tank properly there really is no need to do this. prevention is always better than cure!

You can add 1-2 tablespoons of canning salt without iodine to the tank to help prevent fungus, but in good conditions you shouldn't have to worry about that.
