Found my axie's butt cominh out! so i put him in the fridge to clear out his system thought he ate too much. now he is throwing up blood cant tell that it is his but i am sure it is because it is pure red. That blue box is his temp fridge tank till the clear bigger one water cools down to same temp. If he throws up more blood i will take more pics that are more clear, anyone have any ideas to help the little guy he is my favorite one and i am sure i do not have the money to take him to a vet.

I really think you should try and get him to a vet, even if you can pay it off if nothing else try and ring and seek some advice. Can you please tell us about water temp, water parameters and if he is on gravel tank mates, what is his diet and does he have any tank mates?
I hope he gets better soon

that shouldn't happen even if he ate too much...

Was he on gravel??

I think you should call a vet, throwing up blood can't be good at all, either his butt coming out

clocoa prolapses are not good.

I'm afraid he doesn't sound in a good way.

However they are hardy critters when it comes to actual injuries.

Keep him cool, keep him clean and keep him stress free and perhaps he may be alright and will heal up.

A vet is obviously the best option, however for me, there are so few specialist vets in the area, that I believe they know less than I do.

I had a vet tell me my axie was a reptile once. I was like WTF, are you serious?

rosey as feeder fish was her diet i put alot in there this time and they are on gravel but gravel is bigger than there head i am sure its not gravel the ammonia was around .05 , nitrate no 3 was around 20 ,nitrate no 2 was around .5, water was hard like always ,0 chlorine ,alkalinity was around 120 and ph was around 7.8 i changed the water for the other 2 and clean the gravel really well temp was around 72 f. he seems to be looking better than what he was in the tank, even though i have seen blood. His tail is showing no sign of stress like he was showing when he was in the tank but when i checked him when i got home their was a alittle blood in the water so i changed it like i do every day they are in the fridge. I do a 20 to 30 percent water change every 2 days in the big tank.

I think feeder fish like rosys contain thiaminase which destroys vitamin B1 if fed in large quantities as well as potentially introducing a vector for disease and parasites. Additionally I dont think rosys contain all of the nutrients an axolotl needs. I would recommend switching to another staple food - nightcrawler / earthworms come up countless times on here as the best possible staple diet for axolotls.

An immediate diet change is a must. Like previously mentioned, worms are your best choice.

He died! The other 2 are eating nightcrawlers and i moved them to the big tank. I will post some pics when my plants get back to health.

Oh my, poor thing :( You did your best
I'm so sorry.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
