Morning all

Completely new to the world of everything Axolotl!

I have set my tank up and now just waiting for the liquid testing kit to arrive today as after reading for several days/hours online I have established dipsticks don’t cut it.

Dipstick current parameters are

Ph - 7.2
NO3- between 10 and 25 on the pinkness
NO2-0
CL2- 0
Gh- 8
Kh- 6

Can you tell me if the set up looks ok ?
Once I know the correct parameters I will update those too :)

The tank I have is a Ciano aquarium 80 and came with the cf80 filter and a disease control cartridge there was also a water conditioner and beneficial bacteria sachet that was used in the set up.

I’m not quite getting my head around how long I have to wait for cycling ? The aquarium shop advised with the contents provided it wouldn’t be long at all.

I don’t want to collect our little axie until I’m 100% sure everything is perfect 🤩

I asked the other day and I didn't get much support on this.
So I'm asking again.

I've been doing water tests everyday and making sure my ammonia is topper up but my nitrites seem to have vanished...
These were taken last night and my ammonia read at 2ppm but now it's a murky yellow and green colour?
I've tried redoing my nitrite tests several times and I get the same result.
What's going on?????? Why won't my filters cycle?!?! I'm getting really really frustrated now cause I'm doing everything by the book!!
My high pH is 7.4 and my pH is 6.0
What the hell is going on here?
For anyone else - my axolotl is NOT in it's tank yet so please don't come at me with "DONT PUT YOUR AXOLOTL IN YOUR TANK" - I know that already, I want advice on THIS RIGHT HERE. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
Please & Thank you, all relevant comments are appreciated a LOT at this point. 💜

hope you got your tank sorted, for reference the nitrogen cycle is.. waste > ammonia > nitrite > nitrate > water change, your ammonia was green because it was being dosed, the nitrites were blue because they were being converted to nitrates, If the ammonia is still high (after dosing at 4ppm 24hrs later) after being cycling for nearly two months then the filter isn't big enough for the tank and is unable to cope with bio load.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. I also asked this as an actual question in a thread in case anyone wants to answer it there instead of here
