Here's a project that I feel is well worth supporting:

The BHS is supporting the axolotl conservation project in Mexico. T-shirts and postcards have been produced to raise further funds for the project.

T-shirts (Small, Medium, Large, X/Large) with colour axolotl on the front and Lake Xochimilco on the back: £9.00 (inc. postage).

Postcards: 4 stunning images of axolotls, £1.50 per set of 4 (inc. postage).

Order from Richard Griffiths, DICE, University of Kent, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7NS.

E-mail: R.A.Griffiths@kent.ac.uk.

Please make cheques payable to "British Herpetological Society".

Here's a link to the project website: http://www.kent.ac.uk/anthropology/dice/research/azaxs/english/project/project.htm

i can see the site-but not any pictures of the shirts or postcards-got a link for that?

OOoo yeah... Pictures would be good.. Do they have womens tight fit shirts?

Hold on Guys......pictures to come shortly.

Looks like a good cause worth supporting. Hopefully they will have some success.

For those that don't know, at least two of the obligately paedomorphic Ambystoma endemic to crater lakes in Mexico have gone extinct in the last 30 years.

  • Katia Del Rio-Tsonis:
Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
