Hello everyone,

I've been reading quite a lot about axie's sickness and all. I started a salt bath for mine. Can someone recognize what sickness it is? He has advancing white skin, is very skinny since I adopted him(3axies living together in a 26 gallon tank :s) and receding gills. I bought a tank just for him. Since yesterdays quarantine he did eat and actually looks at ease. He was living with 2 other bigger axies that seemed to bite him(tail)so I think he can only be better alone. Any info on sickness is appreciated thanks in advance!

ideally need side view as well.
white dusty colouration can be caused by stagnant water, very common in jars etc.. where there is a lack of water movement. It seems he has been spending a lot of time hiding which also accounts for the regressed gills.
the best thing for him would be to make sure he is in oxygenated water with a trace of salt at 2g per litre, look into using holtfreters solution.
having salt baths will just stress him where as a low level of salt in his water would be more beneficial.
empty/clean out any hides regularly by either gentle water flow from a water pump outlet or just taking out and emptying the stagnant water then putting back in tank.
make sure there is a air-stone in to allow plenty of oxygen, fine bubbles are better for water saturation.

Thanks for the info wolfen.
Sorry for the low pixel pics.
Okay what you just said makes more sense now. 3 full grown lotls in a 26gal tank with 1 medium sponge filter(got them like that with mud like water) might be the source of problems. I do 50% water changes every week which keeps it clear but maybe the cycle is way off. So today I put a big 2 sponge air filter for 2 lotls and 20 gal tank for this axie alone with one cycled air sponge filter with air stone. Did you personally try the salt solution you recommended?

I always use a mixture of salts and minerals with mine, the salt level is the same I use as standard.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
