Evening all,

I've recently joined the Fish Welfare and rescue Centre and was thinking if there is such a thing for axies? Would be great if there were, but a google search only brings up threads from here.

Anyone else thinking a rescue network is worth putting together?

That sounds like a pretty good idea, people willing to foster abandoned axies until they find their "forever" homes could be good... especially since members here are worldwide.

Definetely, especially if you consider how many rescue/adoption agencies there are for dogs and cats - indeed, there are even breed specific rescues, in places as small as my county of Cornwall.

I think it's a great idea, and a good way for people to promote both good husbandry and responsible rehoming practices.

Anyone know how to create a website? :p

There could be an "up for adoption" page and a "abandon your sick axolotl here" page...

My otherhalf can, and when he has slightly less work I'll see of I can pick his brains about it. Would have to see if there is a way to cover hosting and domain costs sensibly. Having only just joined the FRW as admin, I'll wait to get more than a toe in to see if it's something they would cover too.

You would need a network of people who would be willing to pick up, house, nurse, care for and then part with the axies. Not sure I could manage that last bit.....

But it's a great idea.

Know that feeling, I picked up three that had seen better days. One had both it's front legs and half its tail bitten off :( All three were living in an plastic box with one hide and it stank. Anyway, was thinking I'd get them back to health and sell them on. They're still here, one year on! Ooops! At least I have the tank to keep them and they still do several lengths of the 6ft tank every day :)

I'll learn the ins and outs of the fish rescue and start thinking about it seriously.
