I put my Axolotls in their tank yesterday with hides and that but i havnt seen them using them once.. They either sit in one corner or go for a swim to other parts of the tank... (stare at me through the glass in the dark and when i have a look with the light from my phone have one of them making me jump :p) But yeah does anyone else have an axolotl that dosnt use its hides or comes and spys on you just before you do to sleep .... I have 2 and they are about 2-3 months old i think... Let me know if your axie does this or if anyone knows why or if its just normal... Im not worried but just thought thats what axies like and do, hide in the hides... Thanks :D

I wouldn't worry my leucistic only uses his hides when he is scared when he wants to get away he hides in the plants

Yeah, my leucistic, Artie, never uses hides. I suspect that, since he knows where the food gets dropped in, he likes to camp out there pretty much all the time. Meanwhile, Max hides pretty much all the time. I think it's just a personality thing.

Oh thanks guys i think the ones that dont hide are just nosey :p

my leucistic does tend to stay in one of the two hides during the day, with occasional swims round the tank, though sometimes he does sleep lying up the side of the tank on the glass. Wild type female is out and about most the time, always comes to the glass if I go near the tank.
