Axolotl Nesting?

I've had java moss in my tank for several months now and ever since adding it my 2 year old male axie collects it and puts it in his hiding area. Is this normal? He will go over to it, grab it in his mouth, and swim over to where he wants it. I really don't mind, after all it is his home, but I've never heard of this behavior before.

Never heard of an Axolotl doing this either. Can you post some images?

This sounds strange We have a hollowed out log in our tank that one of the axolotls seems to move stuff into, usually it's bits of uneaten food and poop though! At least makes cleaning easier
