How long can they be kept in the fridge? I only ask ask as we are going away for a week during the summer and there are rumours of it being very hot, I was initially aiming to take them with me in a smaller tank, but am concerned they will be very stressed( looking at a 6 hour journey..with three kids and me being stressed too!).. I appreciate they can be in the fridge for longish period of time, but I understand water changes need to be done..let alone the issue of there being enough oxygen. Closest relatives are joining us on our jaunt and various friends don't like them( some friends !). I do have the option of using a pet shop to take them, but not keen on that!. My final option is to put them in a cool place in the smaller tank ( cupboard under the stairs). I have just over 2 months to prepare!

hey

how far away is hatfield from essex as i could baby sit if you dont come up with a better option

smaller tanks get hotter than larger ones. i personaly would feed them up before you go, do a 50% water change the morning you leave and then just make sure all the windows are covered and the room is as shady as poss.

when i go away i only get mine fed once or twice a week but if well fed they should be fine for the week.

i havent had an axi through the summer yet but i doubt the water gets much above mid 20s in the uk, though if someone confirm that it would be helpful

They could be kept in the fridge the whole summer as long as they had the daily waterchanges. Cooler/chilled water has more oxygen than warm water.

Otherwise if it's only a week they could remain in their tank. Just move the tank to the coolest part of the house.
