I started changing my axoltols set up after keeping the same look for 3-4 years and I’m tired of the pipes. They’re a bit tacky and it doesn’t match the style of my fish tank. I’m wondering if anyone could recommend and link some good hideouts that aren’t pipe or flower pots that are white? Or could anyone tell me if this one would work?

There are instructions online on how to build your own using PVC pipe. I would glue some moss on top too. Your Axo is going to need at LEAST a 10 inch long by 4 inch high by 6 inch wide eventually. They have some on Etsy - run anywhere from $49 - $100. Or you can have them custom made. I would try Doing it yourself. Get some non-toxic aquarium glue and some aquarium moss from Josh's Frogs..

I made my own "log" out of clay and glazed it green. You could find a local potter and ask them to make you something. If they throw, it would be quite easy to make you a cylinder and cut a few circles out of it. Bonnie (my Axi) goes in it a lot and sometimes sits on top. I almost wish I'd made it triangular so it was flat on the bottom, but it nestles into the sand quite well.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
