I got this little pink guy along with two others 2 months ago. The other two are doing great and have been getting big really fast. The little guy however has not grown at all or very slightly, despite eating well. I have separated them because of this.

His spine came bent. I got him from someone who wasn’t expecting babies so I am wondering if its inbred or has a genetic condition?

How I care for them:
Food- bloodworms and earthworms every day as much as they will eat

Water- haven’t been able to check parameters but I do a 80-90% water change weekly. I spot clean waste and leftover food. Temp is 15-16 degrees

Tank- 1m wide and 150L. Will upgrade when they are adults

I am a breeder and have worked with other breeders and occasionally perhaps though an unintentional accident some axolotls can be knocked out the the eggs a day or two early and I’ve seen that those ones can have a curved spine. Most do not survive but if they do I’d imagine that could remain. I’m not 100% sure but it’s just a theory I hope it helps :)

Thank you for the reply! I haven’t found anything similar to what it has online so thats really helpful. It’s eating great and acting normally so im hoping it is just a deformity- and hopefully one that will still allow it to have a long life. My main concern is that it hasnt really grown in the two months I have had it

I've had a few of my hatchlings like that. I don't know why. They seem to remain runts and not survive more than a month or two. My belief is that it is part of nature., Not all of the babies are meant to survive for a variety of reasons. I look after them and let nature take its course.
