axolotl green around gills

These axolotls look a little green around the gills.

I'm betting they look radioactive under certain lights too.
 
Yea. They are gfp juveniles. Here's a picture of a young adult. The wild type gfp have green eyes under normal normal light. I rarely look at them under a black light but know some people who do.

This is one of mine that I've raised most of its life in a tank with a good sponge filter system. It seems like the gills grow different in different set ups. They look healthy to me but do curl front. I got her parents from a biology teacher. They are from gene spliced breeding stock that breed true. The genes are spliced for research work.

You should see my basement. This last year I've tried to see how many large aquariums and aquatic ambystomids one can fit in the basement of a medium size house. My guess is one more 55 gallon tank that I'm picking up a stand for this week.

i have UV everything (tshirt designs, shoes, laces) lol, would be a great additon to my UV collection :p
