Ive only had my axolotl for about a month, he/she is an albino, i think that is what the golden coloured ones are called any, ive only researched mainly about their living conditions so far but I came across something about albino axolotls getting black freckles as they get older. Is this true for all albinos and is my gold coloured one with bright red/pink coloured gills an albino? Im not sure of its age but it hasnt got any other colouring apart from a white belly, it is about 6 inches long now.

I'd need to see a pic, but I think you have a leucistic and not an albino. Are the animal's eyes black or red?

I havnt got any pictures online but it has yellow eyes, exactly the same colour as its body

I'd have to agree with this - it's usually luecistics that get the "freckles" or darker pigmentation on the face. Luecistics are pinky/white with red gills and black eyes. Albinos have red/transparent eyes usually of similar colour to the rest of their body. I'd say its possible for them to maybe get some lighter pigmentation, such as spots that are lighter but they're very hardly noticable - not like that of the luecistic "freckles".

It sounds like a golden albino. Does it look anything like the yellow girl on the left of the second pic? Or does it look more like the boy on the right in the first pic who is also albino?
