I have been using a sponge filter for a couple years now and i found that type of filter just doesn’t keep the tank clear anymore. Any suggestions on what I should try? I have a 35 gallon bow front tank with two axies and a few live plants with sand bottom.

I recommend Aquaclear filters. An AquaClear 50 would be a good choice for your tank size. You could also consider getting a more powerful air pump and running two sponges?

Ended up getting an Aquaclear fluval, I added an extension tube so it reached the bottom. Let it run for over the weekend and worked very well!! Thanks! Here’s the before and after!

I am glad you are liking it so far! They are very high quality filters in my opinion. I like your tank, very nice!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
