I am trying to hatch axolotl babies from eggs for the first time. One baby hatched out super early (only 1 week old) and has been swimming around in the clutch container for days. I wasn’t prepared with the shrimp yet as I just got the eggs on Sunday and this little guy already hatched. I’ve been desperate to feed him and having trouble separating brine shrimp eggs out from the salt water and eggshells. I have never been able to get my 1 little hatchling separate from the eggs for fear of hurting him or the rest of the eggs. He’s a quick little guy and I couldn’t get him out. So I poured some shrimp into the container hoping he’d eat and then I could do a water change afterwards to get rid of the excess dead shrimp and any egg casings that might have come along. Totally didn’t consider that all of it would stick to the gelatinous masses of the eggs. So now I’m scared that I’ve ruined things for the rest of the eggs if I can’t get all of that stuff off their eggs masses. As I’ve been trying to pour out the shrimpy water, they’ve gotten quite stirred up and many of them are wiggling in their egg casings. Can anyone tell me what I should do or if this is bad news for all the unhatched axolotls?
