Hi everyone,

I bought two axolotls on boxing day one white and one brown one. When I first got them, the brown one already had a weird (dislocated?) arm and one very very tiny arm (I assumed he lost that one and it was growing back out), he was also very sick (with fungus) and I had to fridge him. At first it was really cute because his arms looked like he was saying hi all the time, but now the arm seems to continue to grow larger and larger. Its now bigger than all of his other limbs. He doesn't seemed to be too bothered by it, at least I don't think so. His other tiny arm seems to be growing out normally. I'm just concerned that his arm will keep growing to a troublesome state and I'm not sure if something like this would actually be painful for him? Suggestions and input?? I'm fairly new to axolotls so any information concerning this or something similar would be great.

Here is a photo of him and my white Axie.

Photo 1

It doesn't look too large in the picture(looks about the same as your other axie) - how long ago was that? If its continued to get larger, it could be fluid build up from being twisted, cutting off the flow for the lymphatic system. I'd try to find an exotic vet in your area to see if there is something to be done.

Thank you Animalloversfb. It doesn't seem to be bothering him and I've failed to find any exotic vet around my area as of yet. But will continue to search. The photo was taken the day before. He seems to be getting around fine... he has a good appetite and getting pretty fat. I'm keeping a close eye on him just to make sure but thank you for your advice. :)

oh bless him, he is a pretty wild coloured & cute leucistic to :)

Hope you get him sorted x
