Hello everyone, my axolotl hasn't eaten for a few days. At first he tried to swallow the food, but then he spat it out. Now he doesn't eat at all. A friend of mine had it, but as he doesn't have enough time to treat the axie he gave him to me. My own one died the other day and I don't know why. The symptoms were alike. He didn't eat, I tried to lower the temp, treated him for anorexia, but then he finally died. I found out that a newt died at the same time with similar symptoms. I called one specialist and he told me he had experienced the same thing. He says it is mosquito grub intoxication. Little help, because he says it can't be treated. If anyone has heard anything about it please answer I don't want to lose the second axie. Or at least how axies can be treated for intoxication. Please ASAP, I will be glad to consult with a specialist using icq. My #226359579

Have you tested the water quality? Is the new axie in the same tank now as the one that died?

Mosquito larvae are rather big, and cannot 'intoxicate' your axolotl. If they were present in the tank, the axolotl would probably eat them. I've fed my axolotls mosquito larvae before with no harm. But if your animals are not eating, I suggest earthworms to get them to eat again.

Definately check your water quality, and see if everything is within normal ranges. If it is not, then you need to do a water change.
