. where could i find one closest to southern alberta? or is it illegal to own them here, i dont believe thiers any regulations regarding this, but, you never know with us. i also need to know what filter to use, the substrate, and what sort of live plants are safe to use...please any info anyone can give me would be nice

hiya cecilia. First of all have you looked at www.axolotl.org ??? If so then i can answer a few of your questions.
the water should be at least 15cm deep but any amount of water that covers the axolotl is good.lol. the more water you have in your tank, the less chance there is of disease and less water changes there needs to be done.
you dont need to have any land in the tank as axolotls are fully aquatic animals. they rarely morph so there is no need for land.
not sure about where you could find one as i live in england.
not sure about any regulations they may have where you live either.
im no good on filters as i dont use one.
the best substrates are either large rocks (nothing smaller than the axies mouth as they will swallow them and could result in illness or death) or you could use sand (which ive heard is a very good substrate.
im not good on plants either but im guessing most plants are able to be used.

Sorry about the unanswered questions but good luck.

thanks for the information but everything else i can get would be nice!!

I can answer your Canada-specific questions. It took me 5 months to find my axies. You have 2 options. First, you could wait until mine breed (probably 8 or 10 months at least) and I can send you some. Probably not your best option

. Or you could contact the guy I got them from. I'll email you with the address, but I'm not sure if he'll have any left. There are no specific regulations regarding axies Canada wide, unless you live in BC (which have some very specific laws regarding amphibians because of the climate there). You do have to have a CITES permit to move them accross an international border.

if i were to buy them off of you, or this guy i have 3 questions a) how do i pay i dont have a credit card b)how would they get to me??by air or would i have to go pick them up?c) how much would it cost? because i would love to get some!!!!

No credit card needed, he would ship them by whatever means you wanted, and talk to him about cost. I won't be able to breed them for quite some time yet, so I'd contact him. I sent you an email, did you get it?

i already emailed him i was just looking for some options....i may want a couple of urs if you breed them later....i still need a tank!!
