1) The temps that people have quoted to me are 68-71 degrees farenheit for a hatchling. Right now, the room temp water is sitting at 71-73 degrees. So, my question is, how do I get the water down to the right zone.

2) Another temp question...What is the correct temp for juveniles? I'm worried to death about temps.

3) What are all the specs I need to look at for babies? I have read them, but I'm talking about, what is the tests for the water hardness and things to that nature. I have a ph test. The PH runs really high...and needs to come down a wee bit.

4) If they were laid on the 16th and the 19th, would it be safe for me to leave them, while I go out tomorrow night? This is a dumb question...but I'm paranoid.

I have done a ton of research...but a lot of the info seems to be geared towards people who have run aquariums before. I have only had goldfish. Other than that, I only have snakes (around 10 of them to be exact).

Any info for a non-aquarium owner would be great!

The "official" way is to get a chiller to cool it down, but to be honest, I find them way too expensive($300 is just the starting price).

You can find a multitude of other ways to cool down the tank on the Caudata Culture website. Some people use coolers, ice made from dechlorinated water, a screen lid and airstone to help with evaporation(evaporation brings it down a few degrees), and fans. I'm going to have an open-top aquarium with a fan and airstone. I'm also always going to have the room air-conditioned. Another good idea is to make sure there's no appliances that could be causing heat in the room.

I'm sorry, I forgot to add that they say to keep tanks under 75 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm not sure what that is in Celsius; sorry. I've heard it be recommended that the tank actually be less than 73 degrees Fahrenheit. I believe the ideal temp. is 65-ish degrees Fahrenheit? I could be wrong about that, though.

i will answer the same way u asked (just to make it easier for you)

1= put a few bottles of water in the fridge and use them to top off the tank, the cold water will sink to the bottom cooling the tank as it goes.

2= im not surre but i think between 68 and 71 would be fine throughout there lives

3 = i reallly dont know but from what i can tell, the same as goldfish.

4 = yes they will be fine for u to go out, mine were laid 8th-9th and there only just starting to come out of there shells :)
