Axel and Lotte

Hi,

I started this thread so that I can share some pictures of my first axolotls. They were born in March 2015 and I raised them from two little eggs that hitchhiked on some plants I got.

These are the first amphibians I've ever had and I'm learning as I go, so if you ever see anything wrong in these pictures please let me know.

Here are the pictures dating from the 9th of March till the 30th of March.

March 12 :Hatching!

March 14 : Red belly after their first brine shrimp dinner

March 30 : Graduating to bloodworms

Here are the pictures from the 1st of April till the 22nd of April.

April 13 : Moving them out of the guppy breeder and into a 16 gallon bare bottom tank

I think they're wildtypes? Nothing fancy but I like their spots, though I do miss the strong contrast they had as fry.

I'm glad everything turned out alright, but in the beginning I was very nervous about caring for them. I was basing everything on what I knew from keeping fish, and whatever I found online, so I'm really just learning as I go along.

It's been ages since I posted, so it's time for an update.
Axel and Lotte are doing great, and last year they got another companion : Kiekie a leucistic axie I got from a lab assistant at the local university who cares for the axolotls they have there.

The past year has been stressful for all of us.
We moved to a new house and due to large renovations my Axolotls had to stay with a friend for 5 months.
This weekend I got them back, they're a bit stressed but doing fine.

Currently they have a 100 liter tank, but now that we have more room we're going to get them a 200 litter tank
