Hi, everyone! I got my axolotl, Pinto, about two months ago. I still am not 100% sure what type he is. To me, he looks like an axanthic, but it’s also possible he is a light melanoid or some type I’m not aware of. As he’s gotten a little bigger, he’s turned a little bit lighter and doesn’t have quite as many spots on his head (ps this is his temp home while my 20g is cycling).
Also, I came across a few different sources that say axanthic axolotls often times die before the age of 2/3 due to something with their genetics… anyone else have additional info on this?
