This is my new best friend "Ax". I migrated a previous cold water tank to a bigger tank today, and there was one lonely left over axolotl at the garden center that I have been eyeing for weeks.
It was sold to me as an albino, but I doubt that it is an albino, as it is not white/reddish.

I also noticed it's missing his gills on one side, let's hope they'll grow back. At least it has an healthy appetite, devoured a big earthworm today.

Awesome markings! A beautiful little fella!!!
I have heard of their gills growing back, it just takes a little while I think. Good on you for rescuing him and giving him a beautiful home!

if you don't want to change the gravel see if you can hand feed him to stop him swallowing any, most axies will take to this method readily, being greedy beggars. His gills should grow back in time

hi
thought id say, yes they do grow back their gills, all be it after a while.
i rescued a melanoid, and he had 2 gills, and he was the thinnest thing on earth i swear, he was in a tank full of axies twice his size in the pet shop, i swear, he looked like a wounded gazelle on the serengeti.
anyway, hes doing great now.

o yea, forgot to say, awesome axie. what morph is it. it looks like a very well marked leucistic to me.
