I was searching through craigslist for aquariums and came across a 55 gallon tank that was free! Me and the hubby picked it up yesterday. It had a little chunk out of the side(right by the corner where the 2 glass pieces meet, luckily it was only on the one piece of glass and didnt go all the way through) I siliconed another piece of glass to the chipped area hoping to give it some stability. The lady who had it said it was about half way filled up and didnt seem to leak.. So I will be doing a water test either tonight or tomorrow to see hoe it does.. Also, does anyone know the best method of getting hard water off?

It isnt the prettiest but im hoping with some tlc it is savable... It would be perfect for a terrarium or something but I dont have anything else to house in it haha. So im hoping to use it for my axies when they are bigger

Very nice! Can't wait to see it put to use! :D

Hard water stains - vinegar and bicarb of soda + elbow grease. Try using one of those sponge dish cleaners designed for non stick pans (to avoid scratching the glass) together with the vinegar and bicarb. I also find delegating this task to the nearest man works ;)

Once the stains are gone then rinse like your life depends on it. When you think you've rinsed enough, rinse a bit more for luck!

Have fun, I'm sure once it's cleaned off it will make an awesome Axie tank :D

As said - vinegar! It's a god send for getting rid of tank gunge and the like! I usually give my tanks a good spray down with hot water, rub on a load of vinegar, wait 10 minutes and ta-dah! Most of it usually comes off first time. Just make sure you give it a good rinse with hot water afterwards and let it air dry.

Thanks Ill give it a try! :) Lets hope the water test comes out good! lol

I cant get the foggyness to go away for nothing! When its wet, it looks clear but when its dry, turns foggy.. hmmm
