Hi, All:eek:
I live in south australia
where we need to get really hot north winds
Today temp out side is 33% but humidity is below 10
for the first time ever my tank has got up to 24% temp
it has been sitting around 14% since august when we set up tank
my son today come up with a brilliant idea
he got me 3 sheets of polyurethane foam used for in inside of easys/chilli bins
we have lined sides and back of tank, and with in a hour temp was back to just below 14
wanted to share is info with all in australia as it seems to work a treat

keeping cool

Thats a great tip. I live in Perth and have everything pretty much set up to get my axie, but trying to establish if I can keep him or her cool enough in Jan-March. Will definately look for that. And it worked just by applying to back and sides of tank and leaving front open?

Tank insulated.

Well i went to our local aquarium shop and they had the foam, it coast $10 and that was enough to do the back and two sides, with a little left over. I will see tomorrow if it brought the water temp down, as it is currently sitting at 22c, which is a little warm and our summer hasn't started yet, but we are lucky we have air-con, so if need be it will run 24/7 to keep my axies cool.

Temp drop

Well our axie tank temp has dropped 2c so now the water temp is 20c, which is better for our axies.
