I'm wondering if there is an age that is generally agreed upon that axolotls can leave home?

My first born larvae are now all around or over 2 inches and have their front and back legs fully grown so I guess they could now be considered juveniles. Is this old enough for me to start finding homes for them?

I understand that there are general requirements the younger axies need that adults don't (like bare bottom tanks) so I would be advising anyone I gave them to of this practice and providing a care guide on how to look after/feed them etc.

I also have another group of larvae who are still quite young but I am moving interstate in a few months so they will probably be around the size my others are when I move and I think it would be impractical to take them all with me so I'd probably be looking to re-home most of them when they're around the same size.

I think if they have both sets of legs and they are feeding on bloodworms and cut up earthworms they are ready to leave home.

You can home babys as soon as the new home is ready for them.
If they dont have bbs or daphnia, then home then when they can eat frozen foods.
Most people home them when they have all four leg's, but it is possible before then, depending on the knowledge of the person taking them. :)

Good to know!
They've been eating bloodworms and blackworms for a while now, so I guess I'll start finding homes for them.

Thanks \o/

:D
Its up to when you feel like they are ready :D

I homed 150 of mine and kept 50 to raise to a bigger size. They were 3.5cm and were on frozen foods. Now the rest get more attention each! :D

For me it all has to do with who you are re-homing/selling them to.

If the people are first time axie's owners I make sure they definetly larger and eating an easy to find source of food like frozen/thawed.

If they are axie knowledgable and know what they are doing then after the 4 legs grow out they can go home still eating live foods.

If it's another breeder i'm happy to sell them after the front legs grow out.
