hello......l am new here and l found these white balls in my tank the other day and l was wondering if they where eggs or something else that has moved into my tank. They now have a banana shape. l took my Axolotls out of the tank just in case. Can anyone help?

yes, l will try to keep them alive - but l am new to having babies axolotls and l am not sure to well on raising them. l took the 3 adults out { 1 white female, 1 brown female and 1 black male - suppose to be those sex's l was told). Not sure but l think there might be a least 300 eggs in my tank. Any advice?

cull all the eggs but 10 or so. its alot of work and money, most of the time you have to end up giving some away (if not most) and wont cut even.

make sure you pull out the eggs that fungus if any do and keep the tank lightly airated so they eggs dont suffocate.

theres alot of posts around talking about raising axies and probably some good info on axolotl.org

i have fungus treatment for my axolotl coz recently he had a fungal infection... anyway if i ever want to get a female and if they have lil babies, but the eggs get fungus would i be able to put treatment in or would it just kill the bubs?

I'm not sure how a fungal treatment would affect eggs.... but my WARNING about fungal treatments, avoid anything with malachite green! I lost an axie because of that stuff.... Looking at your pictures it looks like the male sperm... If you do have eggs though please don't cull them! Think of all the lil axies, Read the previous posts for ideas and check out www.axolotl.org that site has heaps of info... Good luck and All the best...

Looks like eggs. Spermataphore have a sort of upside down looking cone shaped jelly bit and white bit sitting at top of the tip; whereas this looks like the rounded shape of the outer egg white with bits/waste stuck to it and the axie embryo/larvae is the white bit.

They are eggs, not spermatophores. I agree with Sharn that it would be best to cull them. Trying to raise 300 is something that only makes sense for commercial production or by experienced breeders. Freezing them when they are still eggs is humane. Or, you could remove a few eggs to raise, then return the adults to their home and let them eat the rest in the tank.
