I have a plastic storage bin (Sterilite with clear sides). Would it be safe to keep my axolotl in it while I am waiting for her new tank to cycle?

I'm worried about chemicals leaching out from the plastic. It's polypropylene #5 of that means anything.

Any advice is appreciated!

It should be fine for temporary housing. That's what most food grade plastic storage containers are made from, and many people use them to raise larvae. The biggest issue with plastic is that a film of bacteria can form and make animals sick, so make sure to scrub it out between water changes. A lot of laboratories scrub with salt and baking soda, then rinse and it's ready to use.

Thank you for the reply! I've got her all set up in a plastic tub and she seems happy.
