I have some axolotls that I have raised, and have people who want to buy them, are they ok to go into a tank with a mate the same size at 2-2 1/2 inches?

They sound like they are ready to go! 
As long as they are already eating frozen bloodworms, and 2-21/2 inches is about the starting age to put them out for adoption! Hope they go to great homes! Though I would be concerned with putting them in with another axolotl around the same size because babes that size tend to be cannibalistic.
